What is an SSL Certificate?

An SSL certificate is a digital security layer that protects the data transferred between your website and its visitors.

It encrypts sensitive information — such as contact form submissions, login credentials, or payment details — so that hackers and third parties can’t intercept or misuse it.

You’ll know a site has SSL when the URL begins with https:// and shows a padlock icon in the address bar. Without SSL, most modern browsers will label your site as “Not Secure,” which can scare visitors away and even harm your search engine ranking.

We install and maintain SSL certificates to help keep your site safe, trusted, and up to current security standards. The certificate must be renewed every year, and that’s why you may see a $150 charge on your account annually. This fee covers the cost of the certificate itself and the management time required to install, configure, and renew it.

If you have questions about your SSL coverage or billing, or if you’re not sure whether your site currently has one installed, submit a ticket and we’ll be happy to review it for you. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond.
