How Do I Revert My Updates to What I Previously Had on my Website?

Reverting changes to your website is a simple and straightforward process.

For Minor Edits:

If you made a small change to a page, post, or template and want to undo it, WordPress gives you a couple quick options:

Use the Undo Button

When you're actively editing a page or post, you can:

  • Click the undo arrow in the top-left corner of the editor.

  • Or use keyboard shortcuts:

    • Windows: Ctrl + Z to undo, Ctrl + Y to redo

    • Mac: Cmd + Z to undo, Cmd + Shift + Z to redo

Note: This only works for changes made in your current session — once you exit the editor, this won’t work anymore.

Restore a Previous Version

For edits made earlier or in past sessions, WordPress automatically saves revisions of your content. To roll back:

  1. Open the page or post in the editor.

  2. In the right sidebar, find the Revisions section.

  3. Click it to view a timeline of saved versions.

  4. Compare versions and click “Restore This Revision” to roll back.

This is perfect if you want to undo a specific update without affecting the rest of your site.

Restore Something from the Trash

If you accidentally deleted a page or post:

  1. Go to Pages or Posts in your dashboard.

  2. Click the “Trash” tab.

  3. Hover over the deleted item and click “Restore”.

  4. The restored content will be saved as a draft — you’ll just need to publish it again.

Note: This works only for pages and posts, not for template files or plugin content.

Need a Full Restore?

We take regular backups of your site. If something major went wrong or you need to go back further than revisions allow, just submit a ticket and we’ll restore your site to a previous version — typically within 48 hours.

This is a great option if your update involved multiple pages or affected the overall layout or plugins.
