How to Add a New Meter Reading and Bill It to a Reservation

Learn how to record and manage utility meter readings for RV sites in Indio. Meter reads track electric usage and bill long-term guests based on actual consumption. This guide assumes meters are already set up.

  1. Access the Correct Site
    1. Login



    2. Navigate to the Meter section



    3. Find the correct site
      1. Locate the site for which you want to update the meter reading.
      2. Click the orange dropdown carrot to expand the details for that site.



  2. Adding the Current Reading
    1. Review the last reading. You will see the last recorded reading displayed, along with the type of meter (typically Electric).



    2. For the new reading, check the utility meter at the site and record the current usage value (e.g. 440kWh).
    3. Input above number in the Current Reading field.



      1. Indio will automatically calculate the usage by subtracting the last reading from the current one.
  3. Bill to Reservation
    1. Toggle the Bill to Reservation switch to ON if you wish to immediately apply the charge to the guest’s account.



    2. Click Update


    3. To view the charge on the reservation:
      1. Go to Front Desk


      2. Go to Reservations


      3. Find guest’s reservation associated with the site
      4. Open the Billing tab


      5. The utility charge will be listed as a line item



  4. Additional Notes
    1. Typical Meter Ranges: Meters usually track up to 99,999 before resetting to zero.
    2. Usage Example: If the last reading was 240 and the current is 440, Indio calculates a usage of 200 units.
    3. Meter Types: While electric meters are the most common, Indio also supports Water and Gas meters.
    4. Flexible Billing: You can update the meter without billing the guest if preferred.
