How Much Does the Google Maps API Cost?

For most websites, it's effectively free.

Google provides $200/month in free usage credit, which is typically more than enough for small to medium websites — especially if you're just displaying a map on a contact page or location section.

Here’s a rough idea of what that covers:

  • Up to 28,000 map loads per month for simple embedded maps

  • Or around 11,000 dynamic map loads (maps that users can pan, zoom, and interact with)

If your site starts to get very high traffic, or you’re using more advanced features like custom styling, directions, geocoding, or Places search, you might start to go over the free limit and see small charges. But don’t panic — Google makes it easy to manage:

  • You can set usage limits to prevent unexpected costs

  • You can enable billing alerts to get notified before you’re charged

  • And you can always monitor usage in real time via the Google Cloud Console
